Mary was inspired at a young age by her New York native Italian grandmother, who always had a warm and welcoming kitchen. Mary began her career at age 16 at Russo’s Catering. Soon after she began at STLCC Forest Park she fell in love with pastries and confections. She earned her degrees in Culinary Arts, Hotel Restaurant Management, and Baking & Pastry. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri in Hotel Restaurant Management.
While finishing her degree, she was able to study abroad in Salzburg, Austria. During her studies she worked at the Coronado Ballroom and University Catering. She then branched out into garde manger at Westwood Country Club, under Chef John Bogacki. After schooling, she was able to travel to Vail, Colorado where she excelled in pastry at the Four Seasons. Returning to St. Louis, she spent time at Winslow’s Home cooking on the line, but soon returned to her pastry roots at the Four Seasons where she took over as the pastry chef. Mary then joined the team at Strange Donuts where she recipe developed and scaled into multiple locations for the company.
She enjoys teaching and mentoring young students interested in the industry, and is looking forward to teaching her young daughter the joys of cooking.
